Apathetic Protagonist

Luca is in the forest heading towards Giocare while on his way to Ondskapolis so he can drag his sister back home so his mom will stop nagging him and he can slack off like usual. He meets up with Peri who is looking for work in the big city so he can do his part to provide for his family while breaking free of his family’s tradition. They decide to travel together because they both get thrown out together.

They keep traveling on to Skridsko and almost get thrown out of there too if it wasn’t for Jessie who accidentally helps them escape. He try’s to get rid of them but they follow him home, as they have nowhere to stay in this city. When they get to his apartment they find it is a large executive suite and that another Islander had already followed him home. Luca and Eli immediately hit it off, acting like they’ve known each other for years. It’s just an Islander thing. They decide, well, Peri decides, they have to get going. Eli tags along and drags a less-than-cooperative Jesse with them.

They all head off for Ondskapolis once again but are stopped in Esperto by Rosette. Apparently someone heard of a group of travelers causing trouble and mistook them for Heroes even though they don’t care about saving Papillon. Jesse intimidates her, Eli creeps her out, Peri confuses her, and Luca scares her. Even though they did nothing but stand there, Rosette runs off, vowing she’ll report them to the Empress. They are ambushed by Lia who ‘overheard’ (choughspiedcough) their predicament. She advises them not to go after the Empress and she informs them of the evil plot to control all of Papillon. Peri becomes intrigued with this and decides to become a Hero to stop the Empress, dragging his not-so-merry band of guys with him. Luca is really the only one against this. They argue for a while until Luca gets tired and just agrees.

So they head on to Ondskapolis (again). They make it there and Peri heads straight to the Palace, a large exclusive hotel where the Empress has her base of operations. Luca keeps complaining but the others can’t figure out why he’ against dethroning the Empress. As the bust into the royal command center, they are stopped by Rosette again. She excitedly points at them whilst jumping up and down saying how she “told her so”. The tall-backed swivel chair behind the desk slowly turned to reveal Luna, aka the Empress. She regarded them coldly, her eyes land on Luca who’s trying to hide behind Eli.

They address each other and it turns out that Luna is the sister Luca has to drag back home. Luca asks her to come home, she says no and he gives up like the slacker he is. She looks at the rest of them who are all staring at Luca in disbelief. She asks them who they are and Peri burst out in some epic hero speech that everyone ignores. They each explain themselves and Jesse asks about her being all evil. She explains how she kicked Lia out of Ondskapolis after naming it that; it was Lia who was evil. And Rosette is really just an over protective orphan she gave a job to.

She gives Peri a job as Rosette’s caretaker and her bodyguard. Luna refuses to go home so Luca takes Eli with him instead. Jesse stays in Ondskapolis as a detective/worker of odd jobs. Lia was kicked out of Papillon and never seen again (until the sequel). Luna continues to rule Papillon but changes Ondskapolis to Luaskopolis. Eli turns out to be very helpful around the house so Luca’s mother tops pestering him so he considers this entire journey to be worth the effort (and takes a nap).
